FAQs

man with a van

Q: Can I travel in the van?

A: Yes. You and one other person can travel with the driver in the van.

Q: How much is a half / three-quarter / full van load?

A: The van is a Ford Transit Long Wheelbase and the back of it is about 10.5 feet long about 5.5 feet wide and about 5.5 feet high. The price is calculated when the van has been loaded by visually leveling off the load and determining how high up the side of the van it reaches. It's not an exact science but we've never had any disputes. We will always work to treat our customers fairly and it is important to us that you are happy with the price. If you are wondering about how full the van is then please ask the driver after it has been loaded and he will explain how he has determined the price to you. People have wildly varying amounts of stuff but, in general, one person's belongings from one room without any furniture will probably be less than half a van. Add a piece of furniture such as a desk or a bed and you are probably looking at a three-quarter van. It will be pretty obvious if the van has been filled over three-quarters. Large items such as sofas, large desks, wardrobes, etc will, in general, count as half a van. So if you add a few more boxes and bags this will be a three-quarter van.

Q: How can I pay?

A: We accept cash or cheque with cheque guarantee card on delivery.

Q: Do you move very heavy or large items?

A: If you have any heavy (over 20kg) or large items please phone us on 07986-001-450 to discuss your requirements.

Q: If I have too much stuff, can I make a second trip?

A: In general, no. If you are in doubt as to whether everything will fit into a transit van, then we strongly recommend using the larger van service. It is a lot less hassle and time all around and will probably cost the same or less as the transit van service. Whilst we have never left anyone in the lurch, it can be very difficult to make an extra trip as this will delay the driver for his other appointments.

Q: Are you insured?

A: All Friendly Movers vans are commercially insured and the company carries public liability insurance to £1,000,000. We do not have goods in transit insurance. The reason for this is that these policies are aimed at large removals companies and are null and void unless everything is perfectly packed. It is very rare for us to break things. If you're very concerned about a particulay item then please be sure to pack it well and you may want to supervise its loading and unloading yourself. Certain household contents insurance policies cover items in this situation as well.
